Ram Chandra Silwal

Country Director

Mr. Ram Chandra Silwal, holds Master of Science (Tropical Medicine) from Thailand and Master of Arts (Rural Development) from Nepal. He has over 24 years’ experiences in public health, especially in maternal and child health, family planning, community development and research. He has worked from the community to national level in close coordination with the government of Nepal and NGOs.
Mr. Silwal started his career as a Health Assistant with the Save the Children and then served with several I/NGOs in Nepal such as JICA supported school and Community Health Project supported by Japan Medical Association and JICA; Health Sector Support Programme of GiZ, USAID funded Nepal Family Health Programme and ENVISION project of Research Triangle Institute. Mr. Silwal also has published several articles as author and co-author.

    Salita Gurung

    PDHP/SD Project Program Coordinator

    Ms. Salita Gurung, has holds a Joint European Master Degree in Local Development from Trento University, Italy and Master in Education from Tribhuwan University of Nepal.  She has worked in health and development sector more about 8 years.  Her experience is in public health in the area of women health, mental health, and local economic development. She has begun a career as a project assistant in several NGOs/INGOs in Nepal.  Her proficiency is in project planning, coordinating, budgeting and administrating programs liaising with consortiums and donors.  She is responsible to manage overall program in Post Disaster Health Promotion/Health Promotion Projects.

      Sushila Sapkota

      WHP-4 Programme Coordinator,


      Ms. Sushila Sapkota have specialty is in community nursing, emergency and critical care nursing. She holds a joint European Master Degree in Emergency and Critical Care Nursing from Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland, University of Oviedo, Spain, and University of Faro, Portugal under the scholarship of the ERASMUS MUNDUS Program. She had a Bachelor’s Degree from Purbanchal University, specialization in Community Health Nursing and Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Tribhuvan University with specialization in Health Education as well.
      She has more than 7 years of experience in various roles such as staff nurse, clinical nurse and researcher, nursing tutor, nursing supervisor and nursing lecturer. She has equally put her hands hospital based nursing as a clinical nurse and also in INGO as well as NGOs in different roles Before joining Green Tara Nepal, she has been working as a nursing lecturer at B & B Medical Institute, Gwarko, Nepal.
      She is a scholarship holder from Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and European Union (ERASMUS MUNDUS) study Proficiency certificate level of Nursing and Master of Nursing (Emergency and Critical Care Nursing) respectively.Her interest areas are nursing research, especially in community, emergency and critical care and disaster nursing.
      She is an accomplished, results-driven Health Care and Nursing professional, expertise in behavior change and communication activities, project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

            Kopila Shrestha

            Field Manager

            Kopila joined Green Tara from December 2013 to strengthen and support the delivery of maternal and neonatal health services in Nawalparasi. She works closely with local sub-health posts of Nawalparasi and district level government and non government stakeholders. Kopila has almost 7 years work experience in women empowerment, bottom-up planning, community mobilization and right-based advocacy. She is also trained as Auxiliary nurse midwife.

                              Mr.Bil Bahadur Shrestha, holds Bachelor in population education from Chaitanya Campus in Education faculty. He has over 15 years’ experiences in health related projects, especially in Women health, Family planning and community development region. He has worked from the community to district level in close coordination with the government on Nepal and other NGOs.

                              Mr.Shrestha started his career as field facilitator with the JICA (School and Community Health Project) and then served with assistant Development officer in ADRA Nepal (Community Based Organization strengthening Project). He had also served with PSI Nepal as a District program Officer (Women Health project).

                                              Pinky comes from one of the tribal ethnic groups of Nawalparasi. She has more than 5 years of work experience in community development, water-sanitation promotion and group mobilisation. In GTN, she facilitates group sessions, organizes public events, and makes home visits in the community.

                                                Pratima Yadav

                                                Community Health Promoter

                                                Pratima Yadav comes from the working VDC of Nawalparasi. She is trained in REFLECT and participatory appraisal. In GTN, she is responsible in organizing and facilitating group meetings, making home visits and coordination with local stakeholders. She is assigned to conduct a regular meetings of mother in-laws, mothers and adolescents girls on several issues. Pratima joined GTN from January 2014 as a full time field staff.

                                                  Bindeshwari Chaudhary

                                                  Community Health Promoter

                                                  Bindeshwari from Nawalparasi is responsible for day to day field activities of GTN. She organizes/ facilitates group sessions, makes regular home visits in the local households and is also responsible for coordination with the local stakeholders. She started working in Green Tara Nepal as a part-time staff and is now promoted to a full-time staff from January 2014.
